It’s that time of year for the entertainment industry: AWARD SEASON! When a bunch of people tell a bunch of other people that they did some good work. Pretty much every industry has something like this, architects, salespeople, bankers… they all do it. It’s only the folks in entertainment who put it all over your TV since, well, they control your TV.
And it’s been a damned exciting season for Tactical Girls! With a film festival run well underway, our indie comedy series has already started racking up some accolades and taking home some hardware: Tactical Girls won “Best Tv/Web Series” at the prestigious Canada Independent Film Festival in Montreal!
It’s a sad day when we mark the passing of a dear friend.
And so, it is with a heavy heart that my colleagues on this project, Kevin Grazier, Rudy Jahchan, Nar Williams and Bear McCreary, send our favourite Battlestar Galactica Viper Pilot-turned-Politician, Richard Hatch, to the Lords of Kobol.
In memory of our friend, we have at long last posted his up-to-now unreleased film, “D.N.E.: Do Not Erase”, for all to finally see.
Watch Richard’s Award-Winning performance as The Caretaker in “D.N.E.: Do Not Erase” on Amazon Prime or on Dailymotion.
And to give you a small taste, here’s the trailer:
We hope you enjoy these beautiful moments that we captured of Richard, his indomitable exuberance, and his eternal optimism.
I’m excited to announce that I’m directing a wild new scifi film starring incredible actors like Katie Boland (Reign, The Master), Lara Jean Chorostecki (Hannibal, XCompany) and Bobbie Phillips (X-Files, Showgirls) that will be finding its way into festivals later this year!
Written by Rogan Christopher and set in present day, “Renaissance” is a science fiction thriller that asks how far people will go bring back someone they love.
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: “When an accidental death forces two researchers to create a clone of the deceased in a desperate effort to restore life to the way it was. As the clone assimilates the modern world, unforeseen effects propel it out of control.”
With some of the coolest set pieces I’ve ever worked with, the most magnificent lenses I’ve ever shot with, as well as a legendary, super-secret, genre-favourite cast member yet to be announced, “Renaissance” is the kind of project that genre directors like me dream about.
There will be a very sexy trailer coming shortly, so stay tuned!
Fallout Asylum by its new and improved name, “Mutant World” airs on Saturday November 8th at 9pm on the SyFy channel! Be sure to check it out, and hit up the Mutant World Facebook page, give it a LIKE and you’ll be kept up with international air dates, behind-the-scenes goodies and news on how the sequels and series are going… because you KNOW I always write a story that leads to another story.
I’m no stranger to a long, cold night shoot. But, working with Nomadic Pictures, this is the first time I’ve had my characters lit by massive maxi-lights on two 80-foot condor cranes for key and kick light. And I’ve got to say it’s awesome.
Now, you don’t need this kind of light for every sort of night shoot –in Six Reasons Why, we sometimes worked with just firelight and a single kick light– but when you have an entire western town to illuminate, it sure does help move things along at a rapid pace while keeping every frame looking gorgeous.
Our warlock of a cinematographer, Neil Cervin, has conjured up some of the most stunning, beautiful, and terrifying images for Fallout Asylum, and I can’t wait for you to see just what I’m talking about when the first trailers and TV spots start to roll out in the fall!
In other news, my good friends in the Canadian band “Four Letter World”, will be providing the song for the ending credits of the film; I’ve heard it and it rocks all kinds.
Plenty more exciting news to come as we film with Ashanti this week, so keep an eye out for more goodies right here!
My first western feature, Six Reasons Why, is available in over a dozen countries around the world, and is now available in Argentina! Complete with a sexy new poster and a cool new translation: “Six Reasons To Kill”!
Outside of Argentina, you can pick up a copy of Six Reasons Why on Amazon, or catch it airing on CHCH in Canada!
