It was a thrill for Variety to pick up the casting news for my latest film, an animated musical that will be starring the incredible Anjelica Huston, when we announced it at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival!

And as if we weren’t already lucky enough, it will also co-star her amazing brother, Danny Huston, and THR scored the scoop on that one!
The film is called THE CHRISTMAS WITCH TRIAL OF LA BEFANA, and if you’re up on your Italian witchcraft, you may know Anjelica’s character, La Befana, as the witch who travels on the eve of the epiphany to put gifts in the stockings of children all over Italy. But whether you get an orange or a lump of coal is anybody’s guess…
I’m co-directing this one with Melissa D’Agostino, who also wrote the songs with David James Brock and Rebecca Everett.
And now that we’ve shot Danny and Anjelica’s scenes, I can tell you firsthand that they are both absolute delights to hang out and work with!
